Yukyung Hwang is a collaborative pianist and chamber musician. As an enthusiastic pianist, she has appeared in numerous solo and collaborative recitals in China, South Korea, and the U.S., and has worked extensively with vocalists, instrumentalists, choirs and opera productions.

As a collaborative pianist, she has performed for faculty and student recitals at the University of Arizona and the University of North Dakota, and served as a pianist for Arizona Opera's Arlyn M. Brewster OperaTunity Program. She has also collaborated in music festivals, honor ensembles, competitions, and masterclasses with internationally recognized artists including Lawrence Brownlee, Susan Graham, Cecilia Duarte, and Shawna Pennock, gaining extensive experience across vocal and instrumental repertoire.

Before joining Cal Poly in 2026, Hwang served as teaching assistant Professor of Collaborative Piano at the University of North Dakota, where she coached ensemble performance and taught keyboard studies.

Hwang holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in keyboard performance from the University of Arizona, a Master of Music in collaborative piano from the University of South Dakota, and a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from China Conservatory of Music. Her principal teachers include Dr. Fanya Lin, Dr. Susan Keith Gray, Professor Min Li, and Professor Minsook Kim.
