Sarra Hey-Folick is a teaching artist for Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, an L.A. Philharmonic organization. She frequently freelances with local orchestras in both Southern and Central California, including the San Luis Obispo Symphony, Symphony of the Vines, Opera San Luis Obispo, Lompoc Pops, La Mirada Symphony and the Ventura Community College Opera Orchestra. Hey-Folick holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in clarinet performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where she studied the deeper symbolic aspects of time and eternity embedded in Olivier Messiaen’s “Quatour pour la fin du temps.” Prior to her studies at UNLV, Hey-Folick earned a Master of Music degree in performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, and double bachelor’s degrees in music performance and political science from UCLA. Her principle teachers include Boris Allakhverdyan, Helen Goode-Castro and Michele Zukovsky.
