Heidi Butterfield holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from Fresno State University, and a Master of Music degree in oboe performance from the University of Northern Colorado. She teaches oboe, English horn, and reed making both at Cal Poly and throughout San Luis Obispo county. In addition to teaching, Butterfield is also an avid performer throughout the Central Coast, playing with a variety of ensembles, including the San Luis Obispo Symphony, Orchestra Novo, Symphony of the Vines, Opera SLO Orchestra and the Santa Maria Philharmonic. She is a founding member of Neptune Reeds, a multi-genre chamber ensemble based in San Luis Obispo county.
