A native of Seattle, Washington, Grace Seng started playing the violin at age three with Mihoko Hirata. She maintains an active performing schedule with many local music groups since moving to San Luis Obispo in 2003, including the San Luis Obispo Symphony, Festival Mozaic, San Luis Obispo Master Chorale, Opera SLO, Orchestra Novo, and Mariposa String Quartet.
Seng is the SLO Symphony music education manager and conductor of the Preparatory Strings Orchestra with the SLO Youth Symphony. She maintains an active teaching schedule through her private studio and at Cal Poly. She holds a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from Northwestern University where she graduated summa cum laude. While there she studied with Myron Kartman. She earned a Master of Music in violin performance from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Patinka Kopec.
