University Jazz Band I Performance Tour
The University Jazz Band I will tour Northern California in April 2013. The band will perform at the Midtown Stomp, one of Sacramento's most popular swing dances, on Friday, April 5, and at Savanna Jazz in San Francisco on Saturday, April 6. This will be the first time a Cal Poly big band has played the Midtown Stomp. The band's previous appearance in Sacramento was May 2002 at the Sacramento Jazz Festival and Jubilee. Both Cal Poly big bands performed at Savanna Jazz — which was voted “Best Jazz Club” in a SF Weekly Readers Poll — in May 2009 to a packed house of locals and many Cal Poly alumni. A few swing dancers were somehow able to create enough space for dancing where none seemingly existed. If you happen to be in Sacramento or San Francisco on April 5 and 6, you are invited to stop by and listen and/or dance.
