Music Minor
The Music Department offers minor in music for students who desire documented competency in music. In addition to the standard core courses, each music minor (with the assistance of a faculty advisor) is invited to put together a sequence of courses which achieves his/her musical goals.

- Application
- Submit an application no later than week 15 of the semester. Applications which are received after week 15 of spring semester or during the summer will not receive a response until fall semester.
- Music Minor Planning Form
- To be completed upon music minor acceptance. Accepted minors will receive an email from the department.
- Be sure to note the "Guidelines for Minors" on the second page.
- Some courses are not offered every term, not even every year. Refer to the Projected Course Schedule for an estimated timeline.
- Complete the Music Minor Planning Form with your advisor. Once the advisor approves, complete the Music Minor Form (link provided in your acceptance email)

- If you are currently a music minor and change to the semester catalog:
- Your minor will automatically change to the semester catalog, a new minor form is not necessary.
- Refer to the 2026-28 minor semester requirements to make sure you meet those.
- Refer to the College of Liberal Arts Minor Semester Equivalency Guide for Music.
- If you are currently a minor who is staying on the quarter catalog:
- When you register for a semester course, the units will be converted to quarter units when applying to the DPR: quarter units X 1.5 = semester units. So, a 3 semester unit course will be worth 4.5 quarter units.
