Alumna Stars in Show on Broadway

Danielle Mendoza (Music, ’13) is starring in a Broadway roadshow! She plays Anna of Cleves in the national touring production of “Six” about the six wives of Henry VIII. "It’s been a dream come true share this iconic and epic show with our audiences and explore the world," said Mendoza. "I started singing in my junior year at Cal Poly and I’ll be forever grateful for all of the lessons I learned from our small but mighty Music Department!"

Alumni Symphonic Band Reunites for 'All Hail, Green and Gold' Concert

Alumni Symphonic Band rehearsal

The Cal Poly Wind Bands welcomed back the Alumni Symphonic Band for the “All Hail, Green and Gold!"
concert on June 2. Several alumni wanted to know how they could help the band program, and here are two timely options:

  • Band Tours: The band program has been eager to plan another international trip to provide students valuable ensemble tour experiences. The goal is to build a viable, balanced ensemble, but expenses can be prohibitively expensive for some. If you’re interested helping offset student costs or supporting future tours in general, click on the link below.

  • William V. Johnson Composition Commission: The students of the Iota Pi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, the national honorary band service fraternity, are spearheading a wind band commissioning project to honor Director of Bands Emeritus William V. Johnson’s more than 40 years of service to the Cal Poly Bands. They are working to identify a composer, with the goal of having the composition premiered in spring 2026.
