Everything is related in Jazz: improv, performance, arranging, composing… Each skill informs the others. You’ll have the chance to explore them all at Cal Poly and build a multifaceted toolkit.

No matter your path in Jazz, entrepreneurship is key. You’ll have the chance to collaborate with visiting guest artists in performances, clinics, and recordings where these leaders will help you learn how to be successful in the 21st Century Jazz market.
Our graduates are critically acclaimed instrumentalists and vocalists who perform nationally and internationally. They are arrangers and composers publishing their work and educators inspiring the next generation of musicians.
