Cal Poly Flute Students Work with Jim Walker

Doug Gallatin and Kelsey Beisecker participated in a master class with flutist Jim Walker in February, along with other local flute students. Dubbed the "Renaissance Man of the Flute," Walker is former principal flutist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and current professor of practice and coordinator of flute studies at USC's Thornton School of Music. He also teaches flute and chamber music at The Colburn Conservatory of Music. Gallatin played the "Suite for Solo Flute" by Jean Françaix and Beisecker played a Berbiguier etude and Sonata in C Major by J. S. Bach. They both performed fabulously and benefitted greatly from the master teacher's insights and encouragement. What a treat for our local flute community to have the benefit of instruction from a world-class teacher and player!
