Mark Miller

Mark Miller (B.A., Music, 2007 • Wind Ensemble, Symphony, Concert Band, Jazz Band II, Trombone Choir, Brass Choir) I am now living in San Gabriel, Calif., with my wife. I finished my Doctor of Musical Arts degree in trombone performance from USC in 2013, and I am now teaching and performing gigs throughout Southern California. In March I will present a lecture titled “Gender Bias and Brass Players” at the Colorado State University Brass Workshop in Fort Collins, Colo. On March 21, I will return to the Central Coast as a featured soloist at the third annual Roy Main Brass Festival at Cuesta College! I hope to catch up with as many Cal Poly friends and colleagues as possible. I always look back on my time at Cal Poly with much fondness, and I am very glad for the stellar education and experiences I received!

John Reed

John Reed (B.A., Music, 1994 • University Jazz Band, Contemporary Music Ensemble, Concert Band) I have accepted a new teaching position this year! I am the band director at Moore Middle School and the assistant band director at Pomona High School in Arvada, Colo. My duties include teaching seventh- and eight-grade band at the middle school, and music theory, concert band and percussion class at the high school. I am having a great time teaching and love the new gig! I am still active as a percussionist, playing with the Rocky Mountain Brassworks and the Colorado Brass Band, which are two British-style brass bands.
