Cal Poly Choirs

PolyPhonics

A highly select mixed chamber ensemble. On-campus performances, choir festivals, and tours are some of the activities of this highly visible ensemble. While not required, it is encouraged that all members study voice privately.

The University Singers

80-voice mixed choir which performs works for women’s and men’s chorus, as well as works for large mixed chorus. Included in its repertoire are sacred and secular works in many styles including newly composed works, as well as multicultural selections. Barbershop Included!

Rehearsals: Daily except Friday 4:10–5:00 p.m.

Early Music Ensemble

Specializes in the performance of works from the Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classic periods. Ensemble as well as solo repertoire. Members include instrumentalists as well as vocalists. Vocalists must be enrolled in at least
one other vocal ensemble.

Rehearsals: Daily except Friday 3:10–4:00 p.m.

Auditions

  • Auditions: Sunday, September 21, 1-6 p.m. — Davidson Music Center (#45); Room 218.
  • A sign-up sheet will be posted outside of Room 218 during WOW week. Please bring a prepared piece! This could be a song such as “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” or a familiar folk-song, musical theater piece, or classical selection.
  • An accompanist will be provided!
  • Auditions for winter and spring quarters are held at the beginning of each quarter during the first scheduled meeting of the ensemble.
  • *Returning members and those who missed the Sunday audition should come to the first scheduled class meeting.
